Pros

There are many good things about working at Cargill. The company is so large that there are opportunities everywhere. You are exposed to a wide range of people, cultures and ways of working. If you have a corporate job, you may also get to travel. It is also a great place to learn. People are generally very generous with their time and expertise. They are happy to have a coffee or a chat and help you along your journey. I learned a lot at Cargill, and it was valuable experience. And, very much worth noting, there are some incredibly people at Cargill who I will consider lifelong friends.

Cons

Unfortunately, the company's size is also a con. Like many large matrixed organizations, it's hard to get things done sometimes. There is a lot of red tape and there's a lot of decision by committee. The company has difficulty moving quickly and making decisions quickly. And due to the fact that it's private, and there are so many people who have been there for 20-30 years, it can sometimes be very difficult to effect real change. In addition, be prepared to WORK. "Cargill runs lean" is a true motto - but the real truth is that people just work themselves to death and bleed green. The work experience is still very valuable. But if you are taking a corporate role, just know it's not really a 40-hour work week. I did not realize how out of whack my work-life balance had become until I left.

When things are running well, the job itself is not too stressful.
