Pros

Carolina Handling does an excellent job at bringing in good people. The introduction to the vision, company culture, and the expectations is what every company should do. Health and dental benefits are pretty good, and the 401k is great. You're constantly challenged to push yourself and your teammates, which allows for tons of personal growth. There is a lot of autonomy given to associates to do their jobs and to be creative.

Cons

The company has grown tremendously, as well as the workload. At times, the "Big Picture" gets to be too big of a priority at the middle management level, and interferes with the responsibility of satisfying customer requests. There is a constant stream of changes in our processes that are meant to to help, but often become hindrances, and are almost always worked around. Despite having great financial performances year after year, good performing associates pay increases do not stack up. Competitors are regularly offering 20% more in pay for associates to leave Carolina Handling. The communication gap between management and employees grows everyday.

Pros

CHL actually cares about the employees. Most jobs you feel like just a number but here they truly care about you as a person and want you to succeed.

Cons

There is a lot of information to learn during onboarding, so it can feel overwhelming at first.

Pros

Good company to work for if you need to gain experience, or are young and want to build a long career. A lot of people here have been with the company 10+ years and have built meaningful lives for themselves and their families.

Cons

With so many people having worked only at this company for their entire careers, they are resistant to change. A lot of outdated systems. Pay is comparatively low, at least in the department I was in, and the workload is heavy so you are expected to work overtime. Leaves very little time for any kind of life outside of work.
