Pros
Carollo is one of the last true "engineering" companies in the water industry. The merger and acquisition of many of the historical "legacy" companies that have been around since the advent of the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA) (PL 92-500). It has a long-established history of hiring the best, and training and compensating them the best. They have remained the most technical, and the most pure of the water engineering companies, and have continued to encourage an esprit de corps of "one for all, and all for one" among their engineers, scientists and consultants. They focus on anything related to water, and only water. Consequently, they attract those individuals with a real passion for water and the environment that want to make a difference.
Cons
Like any of the long-term environmental firms, Carollo has grown significantly over the last few years, and now approaches ~1,000+/- people. Consequently, they have migrated from a partnership to a corporate structure. And, with this has come the inevitable shift in their more personal management style to one of "manage by the numbers". Still a great culture of helping one another and sharing, but clearly more focused on now on production and the numbers game.
