Pros

Some remote work / hybrid schedule Occasionally-helpful peers

Cons

The overall low level of urgency with regard to large customer security issues across all departments company is nothing short of alarming. Cross departmental collaboration is seen as an damage control / disaster response move rather than an ongoing plan. They like to act like there is deep collaboration but in reality many teams are famously hostile towards people working for the same organization. There are 'known people' who new hires are taught by leadership to avoid; rather than addressing these toxic behaviors head-on. Numerous transgender workers have stated they felt ostracized (with multiple people still calling them "it" after reaching out to leadership for support); numerous POC have stated they actively avoid promotions because they are genuinely afraid of being treated different due to their background based on their nation of origin and/or native tongue. This could possibly be due to senior managers openly discussing their political ideologies out on the floor without regard for who is around or who is trying to concentrate, or who may not feel comfortable discussing such things in the workplace. The quarterly feedback surveys are never anonymous so management keeps hearing what they want to hear and patting themselves on the back. Technical Support is a nightmare, most of the people are overworked, underpaid and visibly stressed (read 'miserable') -- new hire training does not actually exist. They have people go through external vendor training then throw them into the deep end. Depending on the day and time it may not be difficult to hear racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic or otherwise hate-based "jokes" in the lunch room. Colleagues in the Hyderabad, India branch are treated differently than same-function colleagues out of the Gdansk, Poland branch -- with the Polish team members being viewed as helpful experts and India team members being viewed as universally poor English speakers who urgently need further technical training. It seems like 75% of the company waits until December to use all their PTO and "work from home" any other December work days making it near impossible to get any traction from Thanksgiving through New Years. The software product itself is despised by customers and internal employees alike. In an act of quiet protest, a team of internal engineers set up an unauthorized (and hidden) Wi-Fi network with vulgar authentication credentials in the vain of corporate malignment.

Pros

The company offers competitive pay and a strong benefits package, including a good 401(k), charitable donation matching, and other valuable benefits. Success here often comes to those who are willing to prioritize the company's demands and fully commit to its work culture.

Cons

The culture is one of the most toxic I have experienced. There is an expectation that employees are available around the clock, making work-life balance nearly impossible. Teams are routinely expected to absorb the responsibilities of multiple positions while resources continue to shrink and bonuses become less rewarding. Leadership often relies on fear and pressure rather than inspiration. Instead of creating optimism and empowering employees, messaging frequently centers on competition, missed expectations, and what the company is doing wrong. That tone cascades throughout the organization and creates an environment where people are afraid to speak up or take risks. In my experience, concerns about leadership behavior and workplace culture did not appear to be addressed in a meaningful way. This left many employees feeling unsupported and contributed to low morale, high turnover, and burnout.
