Pros

Working for Catapult Learning has been a fantastic experience, especially for new school counselors looking to gain valuable experience in the field. Given the difficulty of securing a public school job in this field, starting with Catapult was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Pros: • Great Stepping Stone: It provides an excellent opportunity for new counselors to get their foot in the door and start building their careers. • Supportive Environment: Despite being an agency, the staff is incredibly supportive, and the supervisors are great. • Small Caseloads: Due to Title I funding, the caseloads are manageable, allowing for more personalized attention to each student. • Full-Time Benefits: Full-time employees receive benefits, which is a significant plus. • Comprehensive Training: The company offers a lot of support and training, which has been instrumental in my professional growth.

Cons

Cons: • Non-Tenure Position: The positions are non-tenure, which can be a drawback for those looking for long-term job security. • Low Salary: The salary is relatively low compared to public school positions. • Strict Eligibility Criteria: Counseling is strictly limited to students who fall under Title I funding and requires parental consent. • Uncertain Rehire: There is no guarantee that the city or district will rehire the company through Title I funding, which can lead to uncertainty regarding placement. Overall, Catapult Learning has been amazing to work with, and I’m grateful for the experience. It has significantly helped me grow in my counseling career.

Pros

My supervisor was supportive, attentive, and respectful. Her weekly meetings were helpful, and supplies were ordered promptly.

Cons

Our funding was abruptly cut by the government. I was given no warning. All communications ceased from that day.

Pros

- Small groups allow strong focus on growing your instruction and differentiation skills - Exposure to multiple grades builds deep understanding of skill progression - Ability to drive meaningful student growth and maintain strong relationships

Cons

- Unstable pay and low job security (hourly, contract, funding-dependent) - when we're off for a break, or unexpected snow days, you do not get paid any of those hours. you don't know if you're hired for the next school year until mid/late August. title 1 funding cuts make the job unpredictable (significantly cut down hours with no notice- Friday notice, effective Monday) , and not secure. Hourly pay seems good until you realize you will almost never work a full 80 hours/paycheck - Heavy paperwork and misaligned responsibilities - Limited support for professional growth or leadership development - Some of the worst benefits packages I've ever seen - next to no employer investment in retirement and employer is very limited in health benefits contributions
