Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I appreciate the positive candor about our leadership and culture, as I believe transparency, trust and inclusivity is what differentiates Cengage Group. Regarding opportunities for advancement, this is an area that we have invested in significantly over the past several years. Through our annual engagement survey, we know that growth and development are the clear drivers of engagement for Cengage Group employees. With that knowledge, we developed and launched a company-wide Professional Development Framework, which provides systematic support for employees to own their development plan; so far in 2022, 470+ employees earned in-line or upward promotions across the organization. We also launched internal mobility and talent marketing programming to help foster opportunities for employees to connect, learn and gain general career insight. While I am proud of these strides, we recognize there is still work to be done; we value our employees and their contributions and are continuing to make advancements in this area. I appreciate your feedback as we continue to improve. Best, Michael Hansen, CEO

Pros

Company has some interesting approaches to the market and in the past they seemed value employees. There are some good employees there and there was, in the past, visionary leadership, but the people with the vision and leadership skills left the company a few years ago.

Cons

The company actively de-values employees. They had a project they called "Project Horizon" where they told all employees they needed to cut costs, so the company was going to have multiple layoffs over 3-5 years - but nobody was allowed to know when, where, or why - - just one day large swaths of people would be gone. That hung over everyone's heads - for years, and is indicative of how Cengage values employees - it doesn't. Everything is about trying to secure new funding and prepare for an IPO, so they stopped investing significantly in the products about 3 years ago and that's about when they stopped acting like they cared about employee wellness as well.
