Pros

Somewhat competitive pay and some nice folks.

Cons

They claim to be a technology company, but they use antiquated systems and practices. They are slow to adapt and change, which is actually a deeply ingrained trait of senior leadership. Your work will likely go unnoticed and unrewarded. Tons of interdepartmental bickering and finger pointing. No one is interested in helping you unless they have an obligation to do so. 401k matching is shamefully low and deceptively advertised. They say "matches 50% of the first 6% that you contribute". This actually means 3%, so just say that. To make it worse, the vesting schedule is tiered over the course of 5 years. Their insurance premiums are shamefully high. You can expect yearly increases as much as 20%. Plummeting stock price. The CEO is completely detached from the reality of normal working people. It's hard to respect a man that demands a 25 million dollar salary, and then tries to talk about income and social inequality in the country. It would be comical if it wasn't so sad. Ultimately the company will only do the right thing for their employees when there is a legal obligation or liability.

Pros

A lot of job freedom; there isn't someone breathing down your neck making sure everything is getting done on time. As long as you are present, available, and hardworking, it is a very laid-back job.

Cons

With how separated the departments are, there is not a lot of growth for knowledge or self. There is just too much volume at Centene for one to develop. No matter what team you join, it is a very stagnant role in terms of experience gaining.

Pros

I loved the work and for 6 years was happy with what I did. I knew I made a difference and did my job well. Not many has the same skill set I did and there was always work to do.

Cons

1. It's an old white boys club. I say that as a white individual. It sucks that's how MFN rolls. They say they value diversity but they don't. They will have a token diverse person in an exec role but they're there to be a face, not make any changes or impact. 2. They pay really well but that hurts when you leave. 3. They layoff the good people and keep the undereducated white males. Why? See #1 above. 4. They don't want you if you are female and over 40. Think I'm lying? See the number of females 40+ who got hit in the January "reorganization." 5. HR is a joke. Talent acquisition couldn't find their rear ends with both hands and a map. So many excuses on why they didn't do their jobs. 6. MFN said the HealthNet employees needed to learn the Centene way and the Centene way would prevail. He lied. 7. They never entertained the idea of working from home. At all. Even a 25% WFH option would cut costs and improve morale.
