Pros

Having a job to pay bills. Chase does offer healthcare benefits to part time workers and many are solely working for that purpose. The people will make all the difference in whether or not a branch is a good place to work. I am lucky my assistant branch manager and branch manager have relatively good people skills and can interact well with people, including their co-workers. This would be the greatest variable for a teller and would change on a branch to branch basis. Also, the customers banking at our branch tend to be friendly and gracious. It's a good job, but not an especially good career path.

Cons

Retail hours on Saturdays and late closings. Compared to other retail hours the extended hours are minimal, but compared to typical office hours they are not family friendly. The extra evening hour puts any teller, personal banker, assistant branch manager and manager with a child in day care at the disadvantage of getting off of work at the exact same time that virtually 99.99999% of all available daycare centers require pick-up. It's especially burdensome for any single parent. Tellers are expected to actively participate in the marketing of Chase but are not proportionately rewarded. All in all, the minimal referal incentives are almost more an insult than a reward. The system for monitoring referals is inadequate relying almost solely on the goodwill efforts of personal bankers to identify referals. No system is in place for a teller to log a referral and hold personal bankers accountable for reporting them. What's more the performance reviews can be effected adversely based on inaccurate data.

Pros

Inclusive work environment with excellent benefits, even as a part time employee.

Cons

Your are sometimes required to complete the very same task as other co-workers, but do not receive any commission pay that the other person in another role does receive.
