Pros

The benefits of this job are hard to argue with. I have health insurance that costs me $30/mo. I have 401k matching.

Cons

This position is a 12 hour rotating shift. Which means, I work four 12 hour shifts from 7pm-7am and then get 3 days off and then work 7am-7pm. You constantly shift your sleep schedule and it takes a toll on your body, The manufacturing lab (as well as the entire plant) are currently short-staffed due to people leaving. I will hopefully join those folks soon. When a co-worker takes vacation days, you are FORCED to come in and work overtime. There is no choice. If an employee calls out sick, one of you must come in to cover the entire 12 hours. The operator position was created 5 years ago because the plant thought that they were paying us too much. So they cut the pay by a third and created the "Operator." The technician position may be worth the hours and the treatment, but the operator position is absolutely, unequivocally not.
