General Pros: - Provided supervision without being too involved. Chenega supervisor was lovely. - Great healthcare plan. Pros during USAID contract termination: - Worked with HR to ensure we had health insurance through February 2025 after the USAID contract was paused by the federal government. To my knowledge no other contracting company did this.
Cons
General cons: - Benefits were not as good as other contracting companies supporting the same agency. Notably, it was the only contract that didn’t pay for commuting (to my knowledge). This was eventually added to the contract, but wasn’t offered by the company by default. - For some reason the pharmacy benefit is managed through Caremark, not Premera. This makes dealing with prescription coverage issues very difficult. USAID Contract Termination: - I and other contractors were not able to take any employment actions after our contract was abruptly terminated because Chenega would have to sue, not the contractors. I’m sure Chenega had many complex reasons for not pursuing legal action against the federal government, but the fact remains that it hurt that they didn’t even try.
