Pros

If you're in the IT field there are no pros to working at Chewy. NONE!

Cons

If only I could give this company zero stars! Upper management in IT, who are shockingly still employed by Chewy, even after being bought out by PetSmart, are the absolute worst management team you will ever have the displeasure of working for in your career. Just look at the number of 'ex' IT personnel from Chewy, do a search on LinkedIn and try contacting former IT employees before even contemplating an IT move to Chewy! Never in my career have I seen a place with such growth and potential lose so many college educated and highly experienced engineers, many of which simply turned in their gear and left with no notice whatsoever. IT upper level management use their position and titles to bully their employees and they care only about their image as it relates to THEIR management and will individually call-out and embarrass employees behind closed doors. Upper management "use their title as a position of power, not of leadership", to quote a fellow employee I worked with while owned solely by Chewy. IT management exhibit a pervasive lack of respect for their employees and are blind to the serious defects in their character, but are keenly aware of the slightest weakness or imperfection in their employees and exploit them at every opportunity. Sadly, in their quest for growth, both HR and upper management in other departments continually turned a blind eye to IT's turnover and complaints about IT upper management. Unfortunately, I could go on forever about this terrible IT management group... Chewy was extremely good at portraying the Google-esque image, not just to myself, but to many other employees before and after my tenure. In order to attract enough call-center agents for their business model they portray that fun filled atmosphere, when in reality it's run by incompetent, petty and egotistical managers who will do anything to push their employees to get the job done no matter what the consequences. Outside of IT, it always seemed very clique-ish, like a bunch of high schoolers and nepotism is the name of game to get anywhere. Not sure if the benefits changed under PetSmart but make sure to ask about the terrible health insurance! They require all, full and part-time positions to be employed at least 60 days before your health insurance even kicks in and they always try to hire after the 1st of the month because your 60 days only starts after you've worked a 1st of the month. So they will start you on the 2nd or 3rd and they don't have to pay your health for 3 months! They caught a lot of employees I spoke to off-guard (including myself) with that one and will beg you to start in two weeks due to their need and will constantly put off getting you the details of their benefits package. Meanwhile, while you struggle to finish your current job and plan your start for Chewy you keep getting told "oh, we'll get that out to you right away"...and before you know it you've started Chewy and have to wait 60+ days for insurance. Never have I worked at a place where full-time engineers wait 60 days for insurance. Part-time - Yes; full-time - No!

Pros

I am an artist and I get to do an art-related job. The schedule is flexible when things pop up. I get health insurance and 401k and a lot of free food, and there is free gym access in the office building. The people I work with are all generally very cool, friendly, and/or fun to work with.

Cons

The pay rate is below the industry standard for production artists. I am not able to afford a place of my own. I live with my parents and I work another job to supplement my income. I am basically surviving and able to pay all my bills, but I would not be able to live a full life on my own with the pay rate as it is now. The work culture portrays itself as progressive and inclusive place but it is the typical corporate toxic environment.
