Pros

Really smart, awesome people in the org. Bringing your dog to work is fun and there is a strong brand image that outside folks get excited about if you say you work for Chewy. Pay is good compared to other ecommerce companies.

Cons

Majority of corporate employees are extremely unhappy which cast a dark cloud from day 1. Leadership has insane expectations that are unrealistic and unattainable and have no problem degrading you in front of your team when they don't like the outcome. There seems to be a weekly email that "Joe Smith has left the company effective immediately" which will float through the orgs and sends shockwaves as we have been told to be fearful of losing our jobs. There is no work life balance, and only work life integration. Don't expect to lift your head from your desk from October to January. Unlimited PTO sounds great but no one respects it when you take "PTO" and you will feel chained to your phone and constant dread/guilt to not be available. Raising a red flag to HR is like screaming into the wind. There is an unsettling amount of throwing elbows and petty behavior that circulates around cross functional teams which makes the day-to-day insufferable when everyone is throwing passive aggress remarks at each other and there is not a single ounce of positive reinforcement.

Pros

I am an artist and I get to do an art-related job. The schedule is flexible when things pop up. I get health insurance and 401k and a lot of free food, and there is free gym access in the office building. The people I work with are all generally very cool, friendly, and/or fun to work with.

Cons

The pay rate is below the industry standard for production artists. I am not able to afford a place of my own. I live with my parents and I work another job to supplement my income. I am basically surviving and able to pay all my bills, but I would not be able to live a full life on my own with the pay rate as it is now. The work culture portrays itself as progressive and inclusive place but it is the typical corporate toxic environment.
