Pros

Benefits are pretty good, as they should be for a healthcare system.

Cons

Pay for RNs as compared to tri state is lagging behind significantly to the tune of $6-7 difference in base rate & those with experience are making around the same as new hires. No increases in pay for working a specialty or with higher acuity patients (ICU & Stepdown). No work life balance for nurses (speaking on this because it’s what’s I know & I can’t speak for other departments). Getting time off when you want it can be challenging. Paid holidays actually are paid for by you, from your PTO bank instead of by the hospital which contributes to depleting your bank & if you don’t want to use PTO you have to work the holiday or sometime that week (so not really a paid holiday). Upper management fails to adequately address & speak on safety concerns (staffing, workload, ratios), adequate pay, and other areas of concern staff has brought to their attention. I feel Christiana takes advantage of their workers in that they are the largest system in Delaware, so they don’t pay us as fairly as surrounding states. At this point change is so slow moving (or not moving) that many are considering leaving or actively looking to leave, which will only contribute to the short staffing already existing. Many have already left for better pay and work life balance opportunities.
