Pros
Self improvement: I just got out of Electrical Engineering with slightly more than a basic understanding of software and coding and I already have improved my code readability, structure, and skill in C/++. Great people: Good mix of experienced employees and young graduates, making for a great middle ground between new and reliable ideas. Plus if you want to do something else in the networking world; if you take the initiative you can very easily make an improvement or transfer to another team. Compensation: Market priced salary, but good general benefits and amazing amounts of vacation. Hours: Flex hours (milage may vary). Based off of efficiency not hours (work smarter, not harder) Experience: This is a bit harder to describe, but Ciena is a company where you are excited to go to work in the morning. When you work with great people and do something meaningful there's an atmosphere of purpose that motivates you to do better!
Cons
Atmosphere: Lab 10 has tall cubicles and yellow lighting making it feel cold. I have lost track of time because of this. Hours: 40+ hours during deadlines (common for most technologically companies)
