Pros

Children's has a great reputation for being a great place to work. It is true that one could be satisfied working here because of it's reputation and the satisfaction of helping others. But that all depends what position you have. As a HUC this position has reached it's end.

Cons

Where other hospitals are combining the position for a HUC/PCA, they are not. With the change over to Epic EMR, the HUC is not needed to do much of anything with the chart. No more reading and interpreting doctors orders and entering it into the system. No real need for Medical Terminology. I feel reduced to a receptionist and telephone operator without enough to do.

Cons

Psychiatric department and facility are the red headed step child of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in terms of resources and respect for employees.
