Hands down, I’ve never experienced as unprofessional of an environment as I have at Milwaukeejobs. It’s true that the management writes most of the positive reviews – you can tell they are fake because they have only one or two sentences in the “Cons” section, and it’s usually something stupid like “too many snacks!” Or they turn it into something positive like “Expectations are high, but it’s because we have a great company with high standards!”
The leadership micromanages employees and treats them like children. Rarely are employees trusted to do the jobs they were hired for. Managers will check in with you CONSTANTLY. We’ve had alot of turnover in the past couple of years – and the people who left aren’t “complainers,” these are hard-working, intelligent people who decide to move on to healthier work environments. Managers also value the number of hours you work more than anything else – it doesn’t matter if you go above and beyond with your goals, if you don’t arrive early and stay late every day your performance will be considered not good enough.
The company has been relying a lot on hiring interns – because they aren’t having success finding full-time employees. If your a recent college graduate, beware, because they prey on these people for their job openings. Its true that the money is good but you’ll probably be very unhappy within a matter of months.
The president’s desperate response that he copied and pasted on every negative review is a perfect reflection of the way the company’s upper management tries to defend itself without ever taking the time to hear employees concerns. And it’s a typical attempt to direct blame anywhere but themselves. But no matter what they say, they can’t deny that the company has really high turnover for such a small organization and it’s because employees don’t feel valued or respected.
But the president is right about one thing in his response: you owe it to yourself to learn firsthand what the company is about. If you get an honest opinion from any employee (privately or outside of the office, because there they feel pressure to give a fake positive response), you will probably hear negative or at least indifferent opinions. The overall vibe of the work environment is very toxic, almost all of the employees I’ve talked to are unhappy. It’s gotten to the point that it’s really discouraging to come into work everyday. Overall this is a place you want to avoid at all costs.
