Expects to much from 3rd shift - Sales Associate Circle K Employee Review

Pros

Free coffee, soda, and oven meals. Weekly paycheck if you like that sort of thing, I'd rather be paid twice a month. Some areas pay higher than min wage if you can snag shifts there. 9 Vacation days once you hit a year. Third shift is nice and quiet for the most part if you are a student and need some time to do homework outside of home. Customers can be nice at times, especially the regulars.

Cons

Other shifts push their work load onto 3rd shift, then get upset when it's not done consistently. Most shifts only have 1 or 2 people, 3 if lucky when we get a new higher. Night shift only ever has 1 employee despite the fact training manual says there should always be 2. Everyone talks about everyone behind their back, including managers and shift leads. Never had a store meeting in the year I've been here. Tardiness is a huge issue when the manager isn't due to be in, including shift leads and assistant managers to the point that I've sometimes stayed an extra half-hour, then management complains to me about having over time. Assistant Managers abuse lower staff to the point that turn over is high. No one is willing to talk to other employees about flaws or issues, so issues keep happening. When someone calls in or takes a day, there is never anyone to cover since there is only the bare minimum of people on shifts. Management doesn't understand that by federal law employees are allowed to have breaks and get upset if you take one. Anything that needs to be fixed via maintenance takes weeks to get done.

Pros

Surprisingly Great Access to Benefits. I opened up an HSA and had access to a company sponsored HDHP insurance plan, so it's a legit savings account. Well, they throw the food out at the end of the day, so if you buy anything while you're working there then you're making a mistake. Great work environment, like they can actually sell chocolate bars inside! -- What a bar.

Cons

Well, you can only stay there for so long. I found if you don't try out the deals then your particularly hurtful to customers, the caviot is the food deals are a waste of time. They'll work you if you try the stuff, so just don't try anything.
