Pros

Citimortgage is a great place to work if you are only interested in collecting a paycheck and not learning any new skill sets. It is particulary nice if you are only interested in a 9 to 5 so that you can rush home to family. They are very flexible with time off.

Cons

The downsides are significant for a person really career oriented. Senior management is very light in experience and skill sets that they can pass down to employees who want to build a career. I had to go out of my department to learn the business and only learned new skills with the help of peers on the same level and our third party vendors I interacted with. There is no mentorship mentallity due to the fact that most middle managers do not want to be outperformed or tip the hat on how little they truly know.

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
