Pros

average salary, decent benefits that start day one, used to have good reputation, a firm with cache, has long term future for who remains with firm.

Cons

gov't bailout, loss of reputation, having to sell one piece of citigroup that makes money (smith barney), mgt. not honest with rank and file, they chose to only tell you what they want you to know. HR is a joke. The systems in this place are crazy, it is a hodgepodge of different systems for bonds, stocks and mutual funds. I mean they still have paper after hours tickets, I mean who still has that.

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
