Pros
There is a very good work/life balance in this role specifically. Not the case for other positions. Compensation is quarterly.
Cons
Very, very conservative lender and credit policy. Business Banking only allows you to deal with companies from $500K - $3MM in annual revenues. You need to refer to the branch if below $500k and to the RM if above $3MM. Very boxed in. Difficult to get deals done. Feels like underwriters are against you, not with you. Top of the house management is in place for less than 2 yrs resulting in various corporate messages. They would rather pay more $$ to bring unproven outside people into the company, than promote from within. If you do get promoted, you will be offered no more than 5-10% of existing base. Oh, and if you don't work in RI, Boston or Phili, forgetabout it. Those are the only markets the bank invests in. Also branch morale is below poor.
