Long hours- You are expected to work even after the students leave. Some days I stayed until 6:30 pm.
I picked up the brunt of the work for the lead teacher who offered minimal support even though we were supposed to collaborate as a team.
Minimal support- Professional development courses are interesting yet doesnt not help in executing what you had learned.
Bullying workplace culture: The environment is very passive aggressive, especially school 2. Many staff are bullies who use subtle hints to make you feel subpar. Some have an avant-gard attitude about their teaching experience and expect you to know everything in your first year at the school. There was work-place bullying which made me incredibly uncomfortable and frustrated. Staff at school 2 are incredibly rude and disrespectful when asking for help.
I strongly recommend those with little to no job experience to reconsider working here. It sounds alluring to many recent graduates but you are better in serving a different school or working at a public school.
Only 8 personal days- Your personal days are used against you in your performance evaluation. It is discouraged for you to use personal days even when you are grieving or very sick.
Kids are treated inhumanely- Kids are not treated with dignity and respect. They have no recess and are held to standards that even some adults dont measure up to.
