Pros
If you find one of the hundreds of white male directors or vice presidents with more than 15 years of tenure you will gain a significant amount of experience. Unfortunately, those men were promoted due to nepotism and have no idea how to run a business. They are eager to give their responsibility to anyone with half a brain and take credit for the work themselves. You will have the idea of promotions dangled like a carrot but will never get one. Take the experience for what it is and get out.
Cons
There are many cons to address but the blatant discrimination against women is a big one. The CEO doesn’t believe women are equal and that message is pervasive throughout the company. He said it himself in an open company forum, that women don’t want to do the hard jobs. Micromanagement is also a key core value of the Chairman. He installed a software and gave every manager access to a dashboard of their direct reports’ “productivity”. If you need a dashboard to tell you what your employees are doing, you are clearly an ineffective manager. This dashboard monitors sites that you are on, keystrokes, and has the ability to view the employee’s screen. Unfortunately, it incorrectly labels websites as unproductive, and if you want to surf the web while traveling for work or on your lunch break you are no longer considered productive.
