Pros
Clean Water Action is fighting for some extremely important and progressive environmental issues, and it feels good to be a part of that fight.
Cons
The work environment can be harsh, and there is not a high premium on employee safety during inclement weather. There is also no prior knowledge of the people whose doors you are knocking on - no information on whether or not you are knocking on the door of a registered sex offender or anything to that effect. The emphasis on fundraising goals is incredibly stressful, especially early on in employment. For the physical and mental demands that the job puts on you, the $10/hour you make if you manage to meet your goals is not sufficient. Even worse, you only make minimum wage if you do not meet your fundraising goals. Progressive organizations everywhere, regardless of their main focus, should provide a living wage to all employees.
