Pros
- Great environmental causes to motivate and amplify your work ethic - Nonprofit organization - Management down to earth - Rapidly develops robust inter-personal and people skills - Very informative and full of references on statewide, environmental activism of the past, current, and priorities of the future - Hours are later; 2-10 PM - Great networking experience/co-workers are awesome - Transportation provided to neighborhoods where you will be canvassing
Cons
- Consists of door-to-door fundraising; expect to roam neighborhoods in rain, thunder, lightning, snow - Has nightly and weekly fundraising "standards" required ($180 nightly, $900 weekly expectations) - It is determined early if you will be a consistently going to reach weekly fundraising requirements so if you don't catch on early and show consistency, they will let you go in a matter of a week after hire - Must go to bathroom prior to conducting fieldwork (unless you can convince one of your door contacts to contribute money and let you use their bathroom.) - Pay is bi-weekly and consists of either half of your funds raised, or a full-week at minimum wage. Whichever is the higher amount at the end of one full week. - Contacts will badger you/call you names if they are strong antagonists to the causes you, on behalf of NJEF, is currently standing for
