Pros
I had the ability to implement ideas and supervise a small team. I gained business development experience and attended industry conferences. I was able to attend any training seminars within the university that I desired. The health care, retirement and vacation benefits are generous. The compensation was low for higher education.
Cons
Mid-level employees and managers are required to join a union. The union and HR make it difficult for high-performers to be promoted. Many unproductive employees are able to stay in their positions without repercussions.
