Pros

I’ve really enjoyed my first month at Clipboard Health. The team has been welcoming, supportive, and fun to work with. There is a strong balance between independence and support: you are trusted to think critically, make judgment calls, and contribute early. The culture has a distinct personality that I’ve really appreciated. There is room for humour, terrible jokes, AI-generated images, and casual banter even in serious meetings. That lightheartedness helps break down some of the awkwardness that can come with fully remote work, while still leaving plenty of room for people to be focused and serious when the work calls for it. I also found the hiring process to be very fair. Coming from another industry, the take-home assessment was crucial because it gave me a real opportunity to show what I could do instead of being filtered out based only on traditional experience. In my case, the 1.5-hour assessment was a reasonable ask and a strong representation of the actual work.

Cons

The pace is fast, and in my role specifically, onboarding has felt like information overload at times. My role did not have a highly structured onboarding process, but that seems tied to the nature of our small team and the diverse, ambiguous work we do. Our tasks can vary a lot, with no single clear path forward or consistent scope. That may not be the case for other departments; I’ve heard others have had a more streamlined onboarding experience. This has not been a major complaint for me, but people who prefer a very structured ramp-up or tightly defined responsibilities may find this type of role harder to adjust to.

Pros

Unlimited paid time off is one of the company's strongest benefits

Cons

- There was a lack of transparency, consistent feedback, and fair recognition of employees' contributions. On several occasions, I felt that ideas and work produced by team members were presented to senior leadership without proper acknowledgment. - Performance management felt inconsistent. You will not receive actionable guidance that would have allowed me to improve before major decisions were made. This created an environment where success felt difficult to achieve. - HR appeared to prioritize management's perspective, and I felt there was a balanced opportunity for employees to fully share their side before decisions were made. A more transparent and impartial process would help build trust across the organization.
