Pros
• Ability/encouragement to grow professionally & personally While some jobs will encourage you to follow directions, step by step, and stay within your boundaries (or quietly discourage you otherwise), it's refreshing to be at a company that encourages growth. Being in a REAL agile environment lets you learn new things, try new processes & experiment to find what REALLY works both for you & your team, both personally and professionally. • Ownership & responsibility in your work Every person who works here is the best at what they do. You can trust you're surrounded by the best & brightest; and they have that trust in you. That's the best thing. There's no micro-management, no hand-holding, you're trusted to get your work done and trusted it will be awesome. Having that responsibility and ownership really allows you to take pride in what you do and what you contribute in a team of crazy-talented people. • Proven results and constant communication Working at a startup, or anywhere, you can sometimes get the feeling of "what am I actually doing? Is what I'm doing even that important?" At CoSchedule, we review our results every week at the highest level and more granular on a day-to-day basis. We're data-driven, meaning we see the direct result of our work and that's what steers us in our strategy. Figuring out what's working & what isn't at such a quick pace lets us constantly be iterating, constantly getting better. Seeing exactly how the work you do every day directly affects the company (in a positive way!) is a great feeling. • It's just fun. Being able to do what you're passionate about every day, creating a product that reaches thousands of customers across the entire world is just plain fun. Working with people who aren't just talented, but kind, funny and just as nerdy as you are is a blast. We're getting to be a pretty big company, but we still have that startup environment, just with more perks ;)
Cons
• Growing pains A lot of new people to meet ;) As a company is growing as fast as CoSchedule is, there can often be growing pains. The nice part, though, is the trust that is still there that everyone we hire still is the best & brightest. Our standards of quality haven't gone down with quantity, so a lot of the growing pains that could exist really don't. We just have to keep moving offices as we keep outgrowing our last one! I think we'll be good for awhile though... • Remote offices, not getting to see your Bismarck friends as often Having 2 main offices, Bismarck & Fargo, you only get to see your Bismarck coworkers over video chat (which is constant) -- but it definitely is an event (party) when people from opposite offices visit their counterpart!
