Pros

Good salary for recent graduates/if you're new to the industry Colleagues in the research team are supportive in your collective misery

Cons

Expect the role that you applied for to be completely different to the one you're doing 6 months down the line. The job role and targets are constantly changing with little to no warning from senior management. They are always adding additional work to your responsibilities with no adjustment of your previous workload, just selling it as a "Large company with a start up mentality" when in reality they are just making other roles redundant and piling on the work to the research department. The call target system is completely flawed and broken. It purely depends on sheer luck on whether you are assigned companies that are happy to speak to you or not. If not you will have to find pointless reasons to call companies purely to make your stats look good, with no important or meaningful data being added to the system. This is because of a fear based target system where you're always an arms length from a disciplinary or HR meeting on your performance. Because of CoStar's reputation for hounding and bothering agents you're treading on egg shells on every call you make praying that they don't hang up on you before you get the required 90 seconds!! It's always uplifting to hear someone say "Alright let's get this over with" or let out a massive sigh every time you say you're from CoStar. The culture is so incredibly toxic, most managers only care about covering their own back and making themselves look good. They would rather you make up the data to hit the targets and are the first to chuck you under the bus when senior staff raise any issues. Majority of staff are miserable and that reflects in the abysmal engagement survey results but yet nothing changes! Any time a complaint is made managers remind you of "how well we pay you" as if a good salary is meant to justify complete lack of staff happiness and job satisfaction? The job gets extremely tedious very fast as you do the exact same thing every day until the month resets and it starts all over again. You become a soulless zombie counting down the hours till it gets to 5pm. Do not expect a role where your skills of research and Real Estate are developed. In reality this is an outbound call centre job with a nice view from the office.

Pros

This company makes a strong first impression during the interview and training process. Unfortunately, my experience after onboarding was very different. Decision-making is highly centralized, leaving employees with very little autonomy. The company emphasizes ethics and integrity, but my experience did not consistently reflect those values. Favoritism also appeared to play a significant role in how employees were treated and how decisions were made. HR presents itself as a resource for employees, but concerns often end with, “It will be up to your manager.” That can be frustrating when the issue involves your manager or requires an impartial review. CoStar has developed a reputation for these issues, and from what I experienced, it wasn’t always this way. A few years ago, the company at least appeared to prioritize its employees. Today, that commitment feels diminished. The return-to-office expectations can also be unreasonable. During severe weather, employees are still expected to report to the office even when many other companies in the area allow employees to work remotely for safety. Finally, performance expectations and metrics are frequently changed, making goals increasingly difficult to achieve. Combined with inconsistent communication from leadership, it creates an environment where employees often feel unsupported and uncertain about expectations.

Cons

Good Health Benefits for families and singles Decent pay
