Pros
It's a Canadian Company but is completely losing its roots in Canada due to a recent change in COO.
Cons
Working at Cogir has become an increasingly disheartening experience, particularly since the recent appointment of the new Chief Operating Officer (COO). The company made a significant misstep by promoting someone who simply does not have the qualifications or experience needed for such a high-level leadership role. With just three years of experience in operations, this individual has never overseen a company at this scale, which is causing severe repercussions for both the employees and the residents. Since his arrival, the company has undergone a dramatic shift, and not for the better. The original team that helped build Cogir into what it once was—known for its commitment to quality and culture—has been dismantled. Long-time employees, many who were dedicated and loyal to the company’s values, have been let go or left voluntarily, as they could no longer endure the toxic environment being cultivated by the new leadership. This change in leadership has also led to a drastic shift in company culture. The once open and collaborative atmosphere has been replaced with a climate of fear. Employees are now walking on eggshells, uncertain of their job security, and constantly worried about repercussions for simply voicing their opinions. The new COO seems to be attempting to force his own style of leadership, one that revolves around intimidation rather than inspiration or mutual respect. What is perhaps most unfortunate is how this shift in culture is also negatively impacting the residents who depend on the company for their care and services. The changes at the top have trickled down, affecting the overall quality of service. Residents, who were once treated with care and respect, now feel that their needs are not being met with the same attention and compassion they were accustomed to. The tension within the staff has undoubtedly spilled over into the way they interact with residents, leading to a negative atmosphere across the board.
