Pros
It's definitely a good place to do science. Many PIs have a lot of money to allow you do what you want. Pace is relatively fast and that makes you productive. Because it's a small place with only a couple of hundred people, everyone knows each other. You can actually make friends and have fun with those people.
Cons
It's a isolated place in long island. it's hard to have a social life outside work or to meet more people. And this kind of intimacy shared among people here is not good for everyone. Besides, life expense is high, especially rent.
