Pros
Management pay Generous pto allotment Store teams are fun
Cons
They pay well but there is absolutely a lack of work life balance. Based on the hours they give for labor and their expectations of what needs to be done and how a store should look a store manager would have to work 55 hours a week to meet their expectations. Granted they do make it look appealing by telling you that they only require 40. If you work 40 your store will show it and you will always get scolded because your store doesn’t meet expectations . you can’t take off any full holiday weekends - they even consider Mother’s Day and Father’s Day holidays. Since when do people gift so much Columbia for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day that a manager wouldn’t be able to take that weekend off? Semi illegal practices: gives a store 200-250 labor hours to operate 7 days a week. If you do the math that’s 31-35 hours a day (no more than 4 people working 8 hours shifts) and they expect nothing less that perfection. The people that work are exhausted and burnt out. So many people have resigned because of the work load. Essentially Slave labor for a high wage. They obligate fulltime employees to take pto especially during slow periods so that part timers can get hours since they know they don’t allocate enough hours to keep a part time staff. DEI for optics only: POC don’t get a fair shot to make it into senior leadership roles. They already have people in mind and make their decisions in order to let those people move up the ladder. They interview “others” for obvious legal reasons but know before hand who they will pick already. There’s no diversity in their senior leadership team, in their operations team and the only diversity in their field leadership team is women. HR department is horrible. They are passive aggressive and getting them to do their job is such an inconvenience for them. They’ve lost a lot of tenured staff in the past 12 months many of which had been with the company close to or more than a decade. Bonus program needs work. Stores are comping ly significantly even by a million in some cases and their max bonus payout per qtr is a normal paycheck after taxes. Health insurance outside the Pacific Northwest is a pain to find a provider.
