Pros

The first 2 interviews went very well and gave me lots of hope.

Cons

The third interview the woman didn’t like that I had 2+ years prior experience working at Victoria’s Secret and assumed I had a sneaky and toxic sales style. When I went into detail about my sales style and how you have to benefit the customer and take care of their needs if you want to keep their business and bring in more cliental from being honorable and transparent, she seemed at ease. I have 1+ year in the same role I interviewed for at Commerce and the lady said since I started out at Part-time and then went to full-time I did not have enough prior experience. She also stated that since my reason for leaving was for career advancement opportunities she was afraid I would get bored and leave there. In the first interview I was very impressed with the opportunities they had available for their employees, but when I expressed how if I am the selected candidate I look forward to being able to utilize the opportunities to start a career at Commerce and apparently they didn’t like that. She also asked where my current manager would say my growth opportunity is and I even spoke with my employer prior and it was stated product knowledge and she wished they would give her approval to help advance my career but unfortunately someone would have to quit for them to do so, therefore I felt I was at an impass. She then told the talent management I said I had no room for improvement. A lie. At the end of each interview I asked if there was anything I could clarify or answer for them to hopefully make me a stronger candidate and at the end of every interview I was told I had a great interview and that I was a very strong candidate. They told me to wait 2 weeks and if no one has reached out to offer me the position then to call incase they forgot to reach out to offer me it. I called after 2 weeks. Nothing 5 days after, I get a call and she claimed she had tried to call me numerous time and email me, but I answered every phone call praying it was them because they gave me every reason to believe I would be hired. She then acted like I stopped responding to which I replied that I had left her a couple voicemails and emails and then told me there was actually one more interview. She said she’d give me a call back with some interview times then called back 2 hours later and said she was mistaken and that I had already gone through the final interview to which the last interviewer had decided all of those assumptions and told me I did not get the job. I asked what about the other 2 and she said they were very interested and I was the top candidate until the last interview. She told me to reapply in 6 month, to which I responded I will have to pass. This process was over a month and they listed another job opening for the same branch, that would be 3 positions available. The biggest Con of all is that I am overqualified for the position and was still passed up on because of a biased interviewer.

Pros

None - the pay was well below what I was used to making.

Cons

You can include that if it’s true, but it’s safest to present it as your personal experience rather than implying a medical conclusion or making broader claims about the company. Here’s a revised version: Commerce Bank was the worst place I’ve ever worked. I came into the role with years of experience, confidence, and a strong work ethic, but I left questioning my abilities in a way I never had before. The management style I experienced was disparaging, overly critical, and unsupportive. Rather than feeling coached or developed, I felt constantly torn down. The work environment became so toxic for me that I ultimately sought therapy to cope with the anxiety I experienced surrounding work. My anxiety became severe enough that my healthcare provider increased my medication. No job should have that kind of impact on someone’s mental well-being. I recognize that others may have different experiences, but mine was one of the most damaging professional experiences of my career. I would encourage prospective employees to carefully evaluate the leadership and management culture before accepting a position, as it can make all the difference. This version clearly states your personal experience (“for me,” “I experienced”) without asserting that the company universally causes those outcomes. That makes the review both compelling and more defensible.
