Terrible Executive Leadership - Department Manager CommonSpirit Health Employee Review

Pros

Plenty of chances for promotion because leaders are constantly quitting.

Cons

Since 2022, this company has been obsessed with saving salaries and wages expense by reducing the number of employees working in each area, even if that causes increased costs overall due to overtime, replacing burnt-out employees, and outsourcing. Senior leadership is a revolving door. Most executive positions at my hospitals were interim or vacant. In 2024, they changed everything all at once: the apps we use, organizational structure, SOPs, job flows, job titles, etc. They demoted almost all of the leadership in my department and then told us the sudden boom in resignations must be because we had a bad culture.

Pros

Good pay, decent management, flexible scheduling while in school and overall healthy work environment

Cons

There is no rotation for PRN staff to be put on call, meaning you will always be the first they put on. Additionally, if you're not used to working with 12+ patients at a time, this isn't the place for you as they like to load us up instead of bringing in more techs and nurses.
