Pros

I can find many pros for working at Commonwealth. They seem to really care about the residents most all the time. The common goal is to provide the best care for the residents. Our rooms at Christiansburg are very roomy. The care staff are very attentive and seem to really care about the residents. Upper management is Ok.

Cons

The food is the biggest problem at our facility as well as the heat/cooling.

We understand that as we work to make major changes/improvements within the company that it doesn't happen overnight. Management could care less what was going on. I was so excited to start here and really looking forward to this job. I quickly realized during my training that everyone was in the “clique” and if you weren’t in the “clique” they wanted you out so that they could get someone that they knew hired. It seemed like everyone was related to everyone in someway or another whether you were a CNA, custodian, kitchen staff. They played favorites. I watched a CNA get a $4000 bonus right at Christmas to go towards a down payment for a car. This gift was given to her by a residents family. We were told in training we were not to accept gifts whatsoever from families. But nobody did anything. I got fired for being sick one day but yet I watched somebody show up hours late on Christmas after I missed Christmas with my kids to work short staffed. All in all an awful place to work. Management needs to do better.
