Pros

If Commonwealth Memory Care Assisted Living of Norfolk Va. Stays Like It Is Right Now I Would Not Recommend Any One To Work Or Place There Love One's In This Facility. Until Changes are not just promised but put in to action. Right now the only good thing i can say about working in this facility is that I like working with the residents.

Cons

Commonwealth Memory Care Of Norfolk Va. Is A Very disorganized place to work. It Is not the understaff that makes it disorganized but it's the Administrators and Supervisors that lack the skills and knowledge to carry out the responsibilities of this type leadership. Because of this type of management being hired, we the employee suffer and so do the residents and their families. We the understaff can not be the best that we can be with unprofessional Administration. In order for The Commonwealth Memory Care Of Norfolk VA. to live up to the Companies Core Values as a unit ,we have to start with management. We need management that just doesn't lead with there words, but management who would be willing to lead by example. Other concerns include: The lack of supplies like soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving supplies for men and woman and briefs. When Residents Are Hurt or ill they receive slow care from management.Resulting in the condition getting worse. Lack of Communication between staff and staff and management. Lack and bad communication between the family members and management. The floors are understaffed and unsafe. The schedules that are being made are not being thought out.

Pros

Good benefits, clean building, easy hiring process.

Cons

Management could care less what was going on. I was so excited to start here and really looking forward to this job. I quickly realized during my training that everyone was in the “clique” and if you weren’t in the “clique” they wanted you out so that they could get someone that they knew hired. It seemed like everyone was related to everyone in someway or another whether you were a CNA, custodian, kitchen staff. They played favorites. I watched a CNA get a $4000 bonus right at Christmas to go towards a down payment for a car. This gift was given to her by a residents family. We were told in training we were not to accept gifts whatsoever from families. But nobody did anything. I got fired for being sick one day but yet I watched somebody show up hours late on Christmas after I missed Christmas with my kids to work short staffed. All in all an awful place to work. Management needs to do better.
