Pros

World class, all-in one platform that allows you to operate your entire business from one source with everything tied into your MLS. 15 minute tasks become 5 minute tasks (or less). Google fast and Apple easy. Has the highest standards for the industry and doesn't care how much you produce - if you're a jerk, don't waste your time applying. One company, not a fragmented collection of franchisees with different standards and no real network. COMPASS has invested in making it incredibly easy to connect with agents across country (even in markets where it does not exist yet). You have unrivaled support from leadership all the way down the line. That's not fluff, the people responsible for your growth are available to help you with your growth and hold you accountable. #1 Brokerage in the country based on 2021 Sales Volume, but not resting on their laurels. I'm constantly contacted by our engineers about new tools and programs that are designed to solve agent problems using Agent feedback. COMPASS is just getting started.

Cons

All of the above isn't cheap. Splits are not as favorable as the headlines would have you believe and if you're a one issue agent (and your issue is highest commission split possible) you're probably better off at one of the companies racing to the bottom. It's a growing company and by default change is constant. People will come and go, expect it. You will be shunned by your former company when you leave, the industry, as a whole, is scared of COMPASS. It won't affect your business but don't be surprised when it happens.

Pros

People are smart. Very much a “move fast and break things” culture which can be refreshing compared to bureaucracy-heavy corporate life. I don’t agree with their values (if they have any) but what they’re doing is unquestionably working - business outlook is strong.

Cons

Leadership will tell you there’s no ego or self-interest involved in their strategy - that is untrue. It’s an extremely heliocentric culture around the CEO. A lot of the work is based around what people they're guessing he’ll like, but there’s no alignment at the outset and something you worked on for weeks/months will be trashed after one look from him. Their mission is ostensibly about empowering agents but they are solving a problem that pretty much no one was complaining about before they started, and which just so happens to work highly in their favor in terms of market share. It’s just business but very disingenuous- don’t believe the hype that it’s altruistic somehow. Also the CEO loves to share his sob story about his single mother upbringing, but simultaneously enacts some of the most anti-parent policies you could think of.
