Pros

The people I met and kept as friends...which are less then 10.

Cons

They had 4 layoffs corp wide since June 2022 and I was thee only person in my position for my market. I was eventually let go Jan 2023 to only have my position posted for a replacement when we were told we had a hiring freeze due to the bottom line which budgets were cut already, drastically as is, including the minimal employee perks. I sent Robert Reffkin & his assistant a 9-page letter via email of discernment, hurt, concern, hostile environment, lack of compassion while processing bereavement which included names/dates and concluded lividly that the amount they considered fitting for "severance" was an insult to what I contributed during my tenure. Of course they didn't respond. I remember the leaked email from Robert complaining and giving the wrong definition of quiet quitting on the job as if he felt no need to ask why employees felt necessary to do so. It's because we were/are overwhelmed and underpaid and forced to be rebranded into made-up roles and given 8 plates to juggle for no pay increase to make all look good for stakeholders and agents. Then I realized this was the actual definition of quiet hiring...but he won't address that, I'm sure. I came into this job beaming of relief and hype to have it taken away with the sentiment this place really doesn't GAF about you. You are replaceable. Your job is beneath them. The recognition is fake. The ones that appreciate you don't need your absence to figure that out. The "rules" at your office do not apply in every office. Everything feels like they're winging it. Nepotism & gaslighting is real. If I could turn back time, I would've left once I saw I was the only one standing after they let go the other 2 in that position.

Pros

People are smart. Very much a “move fast and break things” culture which can be refreshing compared to bureaucracy-heavy corporate life. I don’t agree with their values (if they have any) but what they’re doing is unquestionably working - business outlook is strong.

Cons

Leadership will tell you there’s no ego or self-interest involved in their strategy - that is untrue. It’s an extremely heliocentric culture around the CEO. A lot of the work is based around what people they're guessing he’ll like, but there’s no alignment at the outset and something you worked on for weeks/months will be trashed after one look from him. Their mission is ostensibly about empowering agents but they are solving a problem that pretty much no one was complaining about before they started, and which just so happens to work highly in their favor in terms of market share. It’s just business but very disingenuous- don’t believe the hype that it’s altruistic somehow. Also the CEO loves to share his sob story about his single mother upbringing, but simultaneously enacts some of the most anti-parent policies you could think of.
