Pros

Concurrent offers a friendly work environment, highly competitive compensation and good benefits. The company has depth of knowledge in materials science, but is also broadly involved in intelligence, energy and a whole host of defense technologies.

Cons

CTC bills itself as a scientific R&D house, but that is only true in materials science. The company is technically ignorant of the state of the art in most areas. Technical leadership is totally lacking. Executive leadership seem oblivious to this, and views its own COTS mash-ups as "breakthrough" technologies. Feasibility, market strategy and current art are hardly considered before internally funded projects are launched. The company is not well spoken of by its customers or by its partners for its lack of rigor and dependability. The company gets by as a support agency or subcontractor to many programs. It is in no position to win and perform prime contracts on technically advanced projects. The firm oversells its capabilities to its customers and to candidate employees. Job security is nonexistent. Managers do little to retain good people; employees fend for themselves, finding their own next assignments. Hard workers can be furloughed at any moment, even in good times. (They don't tell you this when you hire on, but it's common practice at CTC to furlough professional employees. So much for integrity.) Well folks, the good times are over. The company is in a downward spiral and may not come out of it. Without earmarks and Murtha, it's not clear how the company will survive in the long run.
