Concurrent Technologies Corporation

Is this your company?

Awesome company if you're either hired into management or a retired military officer. - Logistician Concurrent Technologies Corporation Employee Review

Pros

Many fellow employees are extremely competent and knowledgeable, offering much information to be used either to advance at CTC, or to use on your resume to move onto the bigger and better (as I did). Almost all employees are offered a chance to be involved in all aspects of the business and technical planning, developing, etc; therefore, the employee often feels as though they are important and that their views are considered. The benefits include several different options, so an individual may choose the package that is right for him/her. The company has an awesome reputation with the federal government, with which it holds most of its contract vehicles. Employees are assured that their employment is not based on the contract, and that an ending contract does not indicate the end of employment. Many positions are able to be worked from any location with a CTC computer and internet connection, so telecommuting is an option for most, as is flexible working hours.

Cons

Many individuals in management are not as knowledgeable and competent as their subordinates. One particular manager had a nasty attitude and spoke to individuals as though they were the idiots. He spoke as though he was all-knowing, yet could barely type a program-wide memo without misspelled words and incorrect verb usages. Because the work environment is so fast-paced and the end result requires a multitude of individuals' input, individual performance is often overlooked, and praise is not given where it is due. Also due to the fact that end results are often a collective effort, not-so-honest and incompetent employees often seem to take credit for things to which they did not contribute. Women are paid less than men, military veterans more than civilians, and middle-aged and older adults more than younger adults. Since it is a non-profit company, the salaries are often lower than what a person would make elsewhere. While the benifits are good, be prepared to pay significantly for them. My current position offers medical insurance equally good as CTC's, but at a third of the cost.
