Transitioning to Remote Workplace - Teacher Connections Academy Employee Review

Pros

Nice people. Some are very hard-working.

Cons

Once a year staff has to stay in hotels for 2-3 weeks to administer MSTEP and SAT or ACT in person to students so this job is not fully remote all the time. Also, staff were required to report in person to an office in Okemos, MI, before the pandemic. After the pandemic the Supt has reluctantly allowed remote work but continually gives more data-entry type busywork tasks to make sure we're all really working. The administration has not embraced a trust mentality important for making employees feel valued. They have old fashioned standards about being at your desk 8 hours a day that don't reflect the reality of how remote workers operate now.

Not your traditional teaching role. It helps if you have additional administrative skills, record keeping, data base entry, etc.
