Pros

Great team environment and company culture. Plenty of opportunities to grow your career and learn. Good benefits and profit sharing options. Interesting projects and owners. Clear communication within office location and project teams. Outlined path of career progression and frequent employee check-ins/reviews. Having a self perform division is a big benefit for projects. Creates a better team environment between office staff and trades. Company culture is great and they work very hard to hire good people who work together. I have very few complaints.

Cons

Company issued credit cards should be provided to Supers/PM's instead of having to use personal cards and expense reports to be reimbursed. Operation staff shouldn't be limited to buying things at Home Depot. If there is an ACE hardware or a lowes right next to the project site, there is no good solution for a Superintendent to purchase items there without having to use a personal card and expense it. Travel expenses should be more generous for all staff.

Pros

Some good people in the local DC office

Cons

Pay is below average (135k/year), Benefits are below average, Very little bonus (less than 5k for a senior PM who excelled at job). Company is ran from Massachusetts office (main) and has a team full of people in the main Mass. Office whose entire job is to constantly nag people in the DC office for not following procedures. The Mass. office has no clue about the DC market but wants to pick subcontractors for every project based on price without knowing anything about DC sub market. The Mass. office buys out the jobs with central purchasing and hands over a mess on every job. The following of procedures is more important to the main office than getting the jobs done and making money.
