Pros

Majority of the people you meet in the office or workplace are great. If you enjoy dealing with blue collar customers, you may enjoy this industry. (Emphasis on industry)

Cons

Very underpaid. Worked 60 hour weeks for almost two years making only a few dollars over minimum wage. The work I put in was not rewarded. A lot of the management tell you things you want to hear. They are great sales people. But you slowly learn the things they tell you that sound great, don’t improve your work and life quality. This company prefers single white men so if you are not in that demographic, you’ll have a more difficult interview process. Only diversity within the company come at lower pay grade positions. Lastly and the most important note of all. If you are not willing to move to any location they request or if you have any health issues that limit your time in the office, you better start looking for a new company. Upper management prefers people who drop everything and do what they are told at all times. I was asked at one point “whose career is more important, yours or your wife’s?” This was then followed up by the comment of “if your career isn’t more important, this may cause issues.” CED has an old fashioned work place mentality. Any time you try to challenge this, you are viewed as lazy and not willing to “put the work in” or not committed. CED does a great job advertising how successful their employees are but fail to explain that getting to these positions requires unrealistic expectations. If I wanted to give my life up for a job, I would have became a doctor so I could actually get paid to give it up. But if you are willing to “scrub toilets” for a few years and never be appreciated for the work you’ve put in, then by all means hit apply.

Pros

The company has a very easy pace of work. I would recommend this to someone who is content with their career advancement and would like to coast. The workload is very manageable. Expectations are focused on uptime, with major infrastructure redundancies already in place. Benefits are good, and the profit-sharing is a nice perk that encourages retention. I would argue this is a good place to be to end your career and ride until retirement.

Cons

-Minimal PTO - two weeks to start. -No HR, it can be hard to figure out the benefits -Career advancement doesn't really exist -Behind in terms of technology
