Pros
-Good starting wage for a newcomer from college -Great way to connect and learn about the plant. -great stepping stone for getting into nuclear and/or continuing to advance at the plant
Cons
-engineering advancement to other roles or promotion to higher levels is limited, especially as an new hire, fresh out of college -significant amount of work is expected in this role. Compared to other roles and individuals, pay often does not justify the amount of work assigned -Expect to be considered an expert as soon as you are assigned certain responsibilities. -Management need to fulfill an indicator instead of focusing on keeping people is a main issue. People are assigned additional responsibilities and compensation obtained for additional workloads is not sufficient. -The over reliance of engineering severely limits work flow for engineers. Expect to be assigned additional responsibilities while requiring to work on existing responsibilities and priorities -Expect management to not respect the level of experience and expect any engineer to support any task. Both old and new engineers. -limited opportunities for growth due to consistent promotion for individuals to become operators.
