Pros

Yes, it's stable. Rumor has it, CorVel never had layoffs, although I cannot attest to the accuracy of this claim. Lunch once a month. Occasional work from home.

Cons

Where to begin. Benefits: are dismal to say the least. You wont' be eligible for more PTO four years. Retirement (401k) contribution is at discretion of the company once a year (amount unknown), so say good bye to compounding. Health insurance is underwhelming. Long wait times to be eligible for any benefits. Compensation: sub par and noncompetitive. Process: segmented, siloed, and process-heavy. Lot of 'paper pushing' to get anything done or deployed. Agile? - yes, we've heard of that, but we'd rather do things the old ways. Technology: do you feel like working with 10-year old tech? Then, it's a place for you. Database is King. And since SQL is inherently a procedural language, forget about "object oriented" and all that modern software nonsense. Dull projects of stamping out forms await you. Management: cliquey lifers with decades into it, so expect groupthink and illusion of change. Managers are emotionally unintelligent and poorly qualified to lead and mentor people. You're on your own when it comes to learning the ropes. Culture: none to speak of.

Pros

Management is good to work with, coworkers are really helpful, especially when your first newcomer everyone wants to see you succeed in your position. Pay his average..

Cons

Working for a TPA, is not the easiest. Each client that you work with has special service instructions to follow training is pretty much based on your level of experience and ability to adapt quickly to the new position to learn the claim system and requirements as quickly as you can there is no formal training.
