Pros

Good benefits, including a pension plan, and all employees are eligible for an annual bonus.

Cons

If you want to work in a welcoming and inclusive environment, Corning Incorporated is not for you. The company is headquartered in a small town and the culture mirrors many of the negative aspects of the stereotypical small town mentality. External hires are viewed with suspicion; must conform to the “Corning way;” and must suck up to management (many of whom are in leadership roles due to highly ingrained nepotism), or risk not being accepted, and very likely, undermined. Corning leaders define the company culture as polite, but in reality, employees are pleasant to your face, but primarily because of a lack of courage and complete fear of conflict, will talk negatively about you, and your ideas, behind your back. The most offensive thing about Corning is their layoff process, referred to as RZ (a disgusting reference to the accounting code used to expense layoffs) which leadership uses to exit employees they simply don’t like.
