Pros

Great resume builder, learned a lot, had cool experiences. Corning career experiences can vary wildly based on where you work (HQ, R&D, or a plant) and which division you’re part of (Gorilla, CLS, COC, Auto, etc). I worked in S&T (R&D) at SP., meaning I had interactions with every business segment.

Cons

From what I have seen, there is a pervasive toxic culture that S&T was constantly claiming to be working on eliminating - especially for women. It’s still a good old boys club here and the few women that make it to the top in R&D are cut throat with one another. I saw one top woman in Research leave without notice when they promoted her mentee over her… after twenty years. Overall, I would not recommend working at Sullivan Park as a woman, especially reporting to another woman. I become discouraged over and over again with the culture problems that never seemed to change. From one of the top women in S&T I heard “you don’t want to burn bridges” when I left a role after a year for another department (with more than enough notice). This same person suggested to my friend to get ahead as a woman you ‘can’t put your family first, it must be all about your career’, to the point where people in her department were scared to get pregnant or require breastfeeding breaks! The culture is toxic to the point where people won’t even “like” posts on Linked In or Meta. They are scared to post anything online - because “the company is watching”. Higher ups expect their people to support them when they make decisions based on favoritism/prejudice or are bullying someone. These are the same people who publicly profess to be against the things causing culture issues. The women working here basically push forth the good old boys club.
