Corning bets big on solving customer problems that other companies would not invest in. They put their money into R&D and complex problem solving and into the long term value of it's employees. You make a career at Corning, not use it as a stepping stone.
Cons
Can be very bureaucratic just due to size. Nimble within teams but a slow moving ship with traditional hierarchy.
