Pros

They matched on retirement investments. They had good benefits as far as I understood, I had mostly worked in restaurants and never had benefits before.

Cons

They hired me in November and I signed the employment paperwork. I put in my two weeks notice at my job. My two weeks was over and I decided to reach out about my start date. They told me that they still intended to hire me but weren't sure when. It was around the holidays so I thought I would try to pull a Christmas miracle and just beg them to let me start as a janitor or anything until they hired me as a machine operator, but they said no. I spent the holidays stressed out about money and employment. I wanted to get out of the restaurant industry because I am almost 40, but also, I have so much experience I could have just taken a job as a full time bartender, but I didn't. I wanted a secure job with benefits and retirement. Luckily my boyfriend floated me through the rough time. I was about to give up but they gave me a start date of Jan 13th. The orientation was rushed and confusing. Everything felt like a mess. I was supposed to report to some hall that I had no idea of the location of and then when I found it they told me my manager was gone and I should find someone else. That someone told me to find someone else. And that person told me that I should find someone else. I think the entire job model for this place is for no one to actually do any real work (besides the actual machine operators) and to just pass off responsibility and obligation to other people. During orientation they spoke of all these awesome things the company did for people. There was a cafeteria! a medic! If you had something going on, you could see their medic for free and they could tell you how bad it was and possibly treat it or help you find where to go! They had a program where if you went to the gym often enough and documented it, they would reimburse you for your gym fees! The cafe is only open a few hours a day, it mostly serves the office people. As a machine operator, you don't always know when your break will be and it often doesn't coincide with the three-hour window that the cafe is open. Even if you are lucky enough to get a break during that window of time, there is a line of indecisive office people ordering ahead of you, and if you even get a sandwich, you have to choke it down as you walk back to the gowning hall to put on your ear buds, safety glasses and gown. I really wanted to join a rock climbing gym and I was very excited about their reimbursement program because it would actually make it affordable, but in my entire 4 months there, I was never able to find out the password the app requested for be to be able to use it. I started with HR and was passed around to at least 10 different people, probably more, but at least 10 people until I was passed back to HR who I already knew, didn't know the code to use the program. Honestly, as a server, I have been thrown into the weeds a lot, but this company just felt like such a mess, I was actually so relieved when I left.
