* Culture full of cliques akin to the movie Mean Girls, with less attractive people * Equity of pay * General lack of self-awareness among leadership The company on its face should be a home run. You’re working to help families correct a physical issue that more often than not results in general happiness for patient families. That ends with the culture that’s evolved through the years. Leadership is egotistical with little or no self-awareness, resulting in petty competitive activity between departments eventually requiring steps to soothe someone's ego. Others engage in troubling sycophantic behavior which results in responsibilities well beyond capabilities. True corporate culture doesn’t exist. Instead, forced-fun of soup lunches, salsa and cookie contests are substituted. Guilt is used to "encourage" employees to participate. On the days of the events, employees reluctantly stroll through lines with little interaction simply to get free food. Quarterly reward gifts are positioned as "giving back" to employees. In reality, the money used to assemble the gifts and ship them would be much better invested in changes employees could really appreciate. Employee churn and turnover is accepted as the company is in a constant state of recruiting large numbers to replace those who are moved out or those who move on. The leadership is simply concerned with making the bottom line the most attractive to the next round of private equity sale so the bonuses for the select few remain substantial. If you are looking to work for the organization, think again and maybe decide on a company that has a real culture and not clique-led organization focused on simply to making the best return on the next sale, resulting in executive bonuses and feeding their egos.
