Pros
As someone who has worked at a variety of educational publishing companies over the past 35+ years, both in-house and as a freelancer, from entry-level to senior manager, I can honestly say that CA is head and shoulders above the rest. 1) Senior leadership: the CEO and other top executives have repeatedly demonstrated integrity, transparency, approachability, thoughtful decision making, and a commitment to the company's core DEIB values, even while having to navigate difficult waters caused by the current political landscape. 2) Colleagues/employees: The company hires extraordinary people at all levels. I have never worked with so many brilliant people who also happen to be kind, humble, and fun to work with. 3) Benefits: Among other things, CA offers very generous health insurance, unlimited PTO, flexibility for remote workers, and a culture that fosters a healthy work-life balance. 4) IT Support: The CA HelpDesk is a team of rock stars! Quick to respond, patient, knowledgable, never condescending, and always helpful.
Cons
I do worry a bit about how big the company is getting and whether this might affect the company's ability to maintain its core values. Would hate for CA to become just another HMCo or Pearson. Another minor drawback is that the company relies heavily on the latest cloud-based apps and tech tools for a lot of its internal business systems (project management, scheduling, communication channels, documentation, etc.) which is great for supporting remote work but can be a little intimidating and overwhelming sometimes. Fortunately CA has an amazing IT Department (see above) to offer support when needed.
